Power inverters are essential to provide traction motors with power from batteries and most buses use two-level power inverters. David Segbers, eMobility Traction Product Manager at ABB explains how upgrading to new three-level inverters boost efficiency, power output and reliability.

The new Super Great has been fully remodelled six years after its last major redesign in 2017.

The company has announced plans to replace its current Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Kevin Nowlan, who is retiring at the end of February, with Craig Aaron, BorgWarner’s current Vice President and Controller.

The order consists of 11-, 12- and 18-metre electric buses, set to be delivered next year.

The first three of forty-six Mercedes-Benz eCitaro articulated 18m electric buses were delivered to German public transport operator Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH. These vehicles will operate throughout the cities of Mannheim and Heidelberg in 2024.

Ebusco is set to supply Italian central purchasing organisation Consip*, with 250 of its low-floor suburban Ebusco 2.2 12-metre electric buses, marking a milestone first order in the Italian market.

The capital is to be invested in its factory in the North East of the UK, creating 40 new jobs over the next two years. According to AEM, the capital will enable the company to start producing copper-free EV motors for both passenger and commercial vehicles. 

The Class 5 vehicle will launch with two-wheel drive, a new cab, and a new 800V electrical architecture.

The ‘EDV’, short for ‘Electric Delivery Van’, was produced for Amazon package deliveries; since production began in 2021, around 10,000 vehicles have been produced for Amazon in the U.S. and Europe.

With construction set for next year on a 65-hectare area of land in Šurany, the Slovak government is set to provide subsidies. The venture aims to begin battery production in Q2 2026, producing EV batteries with a combined annual output of 20 gigawatt-hours.

On the stand BAE Systems displayed its current family of motors and inverters; these included the GPM-10 and GPM-12 direct drive motors alongside a GPM-5 motor with an Eaton MD4 (Medium-Duty 4-speed) gearbox, as well as the MAPS*, MPCS**, and GPI-10 inverters.

Now that it is approved for road use, the Carbon4Tank is ready to be serially produced.
