Alexander Dennis Ltd of Larbert, Scotland, and BYD UK, of Iver, England, have delivered 29 Enviro400EV double deck buses to London transport operator Abellio. The buses feature a swathe of customer focussed tweaks such as a skylight on the upper deck and phone mounts on the back of all seats.

Under the agreement, the two firms will jointly develop an integrated fuel cell electric power solution. Nuvera will contribute its eighth-generation fuel stack, with Dayco offering energy management controls and system integration.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), has announced it has selected a consortium to develop and implement an inductive charging vehicle pilot. The agency claims it is the first of its kind in the USA. Electreon¹, a provider of wireless charging solutions for EVs will lead the group, with support from partners such as Ford Motor Co.

Iveco Bus, headquartered in Turin, Italy, has announced the signing of three framework agreements with DPP, Prague’s public transport authority, for the supply of up to 253 buses between 2022 and 2027.

BorgWarner Inc, based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA, has announced it has signed an agreement with Santroll Automotive Components of Tianjin, China, to purchase its eMotor business for approximately USD220 million. The deal is expected to close in late Q1 2022.

Seat and interior parts manufacturer Grammer AG, based in Ursensollen, Germany, has announced it has signed an agreement with Fricke Group as a sales partner for the European market. The Fricke Group operates extensive spare parts warehouses in 66 locations across 25 European countries.

CALSTART has recently published its annual ‘Zeroing in on Zero-Emission Trucks’ report highlighting that, as of December 2021, there have been 1,215 ZETs (zero-emission trucks) deployed on US roads.¹ Crucially, however, CALSTART estimates that over 60% of ZETs deployed in the US are no longer operational. Consequently, the true number of active ZETs is much lower than initially suggested.

Akron, Ohio-based Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co has announced its financial results for 2021. The firm reported net sales of USD17.5 billion, a 42% increase from the 2020 period, primarily due to its acquisition of Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, based in Findlay, Ohio.

The Scottish Zero Emission Bus Challenge Fund (ScotZEB) has announced an award of GBP62 million in funding to bus operators as part of Phase 1 of the ScotZEB project. The scheme is providing funding to operators and local authorities for the purchase of 276 zero emission buses and the associated charging infrastructure.
