Motiv Power Systems’ latest vehicles will be capable of achieving ranges up to 200 miles, even when fully laden with cargo or passengers, thanks to alterations made to powertrain components which the company developed together with its partners.

Based on the company’s ‘Pro Spotter’ line of tractor units, the ‘Pro-Spotter Electric’ is powered by an electric drive system which TICO developed in collaboration with Volvo Penta starting in 2021.

The logistics firm’s new leasing service is called ‘RyderElectric+’: through it, customers will have access to consultation, vehicles, chargers, telematics, and maintenance for a single subscription fee.

The vehicle shown was a Ram 2500 pickup truck with four-wheel drive and peak power and torque ratings of 750 kW and 15,200 Nm respectively.

‘ROC-1’ is robotic charger which wirelessly communicates with the vehicle to insert the cable into the charging port and to remove the cable when charging is done.

Quantum Fuel Systems’ tanks are made from “Type 4” composite materials with a polymer lining, storing hydrogen at a pressure of 70 MPa, or 700 bar.

The truck on show - based on the Freightliner Cascadia - had an 80-kg hydrogen storage capacity, but with 100 kg Quantron claims the vehicle range could reach between 750 and 850 miles.
