The projects cover five topic areas, including components for hydrogen fuelling of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, and standardised hydrogen refuelling stations.

The companies will jointly develop advanced hydrogen generation technology utilising Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells (SOEC) combined with waste heat recovery. The collaboration aims to enhance the efficiency of hydrogen production by leveraging SOEC technology, which operates at high temperatures and uses less energy compared to traditional electrolysis methods.

Kempower installed the equipment (high-powered Satellite DC chargers) but the smart e-mobility solutions provider Wennstrom, is responsible for the service and maintenance of the EV charging infrastructure.

This deal will create significant revenues for Ceres through licensing fees, royalty payments, engineering services and hardware over multiple years. The majority of the revenue generated will come through royalty payments on any hydrogen delivered to the end customers.

Air Products will produce and supply the hydrogen to the various stations which will be aided by the new hydrogen liquefaction plant currently being built in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Once operational, this will double Europe’s total liquid hydrogen supply.

At a Venture Logistics facility in the Midwest, the project partners will test a 500-kW charging system with two Class 8 battery electric trucks to see what benefits wireless charging could bring to goods transportation.

The ‘Hyla’-branded fuel station was opened at the end of July in Etobicoke, a district within the city of Toronto.
