Nikola has agreed to purchase an unspecified number of liquid hydrogen storage tanks, transport trailers, and mobile and modular refuelling stations from Chart, and agreed with Klean to work together in producing hydrogen using energy from recycled waste feedstocks.

However, the last quarter of 2022 finally saw the beginning of production and deliveries of Nikola’s Class 8 electric trucks - 133 ‘Tre’ BEVs rolled off the production line, of which 20 were delivered to Nikola’s dealers.

Future ‘Tre’ vehicles will be outfitted with a version of ‘PlusDrive’ which incorporates a set of advanced driver assistance systems, including lane centring, lane changes, merges, stop-and-go traffic, nudging, and braking.

The new brand, called 'Hyla', will be affixed to all of Nikola’s hydrogen fuel products and services, including fuel production and distribution.

The two companies have agreed to collaborate in the development of large-scale green hydrogen projects in the U.S., but have so far released no concrete details as to their plans.

The companies agreed to test Nikola’s Class 8 battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell trucks at Allison’s 60,000-square-foot vehicle electrification and environmental test centre in Indianapolis, USA.

The 700-bar hydrogen mobile fueller, which was developed in-house, will go out and serve multiple customers of Nikola's fuel-cell electric trucks back-to-back.

Production will continue at Cypress until the end of the second quarter of 2023, at which time Nikola hopes to bring battery production at its own facility in Coolidge, Arizona online.

The two companies have reached a definitive agreement to set up a joint venture to provide Class 8 fuel cell trucks along with services and green hydrogen infrastructure as part of a single package from 2027.

The two American firms announced a strategic partnership which would see Plug Power supplying Nikola with fuel and processing equipment to support Nikola’s hydrogen strategy.

Under the terms of the agreement, Nikola and its dealers will be authorised to resell ChargePoint’s portfolio of charging infrastructure and software products to its customers in the USA.

KeyState is developing a facility at a 7,000-acre site in Clinton County, near the town of Keating in north-central Pennsylvania, where it aims to produce 30 million kg of “blue” hydrogen per year once the site is operational in 2026.
