Scania Latin America Ltda reported record domestic truck sales growth of 115% for the first six months of 2021 at 7,794 units compared with 3,625 units and sees the strong demand continuing in the second half of the year.  

Coach body builder, Carbuss Industria Catarinense de Carrocerias Ltda, which builds under the Busscar brand name, has announced plans to increase its market share of the intercity and charter coach segment in Brazil to 20% in 2021, putting it in second place to Marcopolo.

Sales of trucks and bus chassis by Iveco Latin America Ltda grew 71% in the first half of this year, well above the market average, which was around 50%.

Following the sale of UD Trucks to Isuzu Motors, the Board of Directors at AB Volvo has proposed the proceeds from the sale be distributed to its shareholders, at SEK9.50 per share.

Bus and coach body builder, Metalsur Carrocerias SA has reported record sales growth of 321.8% for 2020 with registrations of 232 bus and coach bodies compared with just 55 units in 2019.

Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus exported 180 units to Uruguay in the first quarter this year, some 291.3% higher than in the same period of 2020. In March it sold 100 vehicles, which VWCO suggests was the largest volume it has ever sold in a single month.

The commercial vehicle arm of Daimler AG, Daimler Truck AG of Stuttgart, reported truck and bus sales in 2020 of 378,500 units, which was around one-third below the volume sold in 2019 of 521,100 vehicles.

The world’s largest bus builder, Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co Ltd announced total deliveries (sales) of 41,756 Yutong buses to customers worldwide in 2020, which was considerably lower than the 58,688 units sold in 2019.

The trailer manufacturing business of the Cartwright Group is unlikely to reappear from administration with debts exceeding GBP50m.
