The facility employs 150 staff and aims to produce up to 10,000 hydrogen Type 4 composite cylinders (per year) used by heavy-duty vehicles.

The centre is responsible for robotics, computer vision (machine vision), hybrid AI (combination of machine learning with conventional software programs) and automated data labelling (marking objects in images).

The vehicles will operate in the Nordics transporting granular and powdered materials with a maximum volume of 90m3.

The 4x2 tractor unit, dubbed ‘Europa’, is powered by a single ‘X150’ fuel cell module designed and made by Zepp.solutions, giving it a range of over 700 kilometres.

Having invested GBP 100 million in a project to produce super-efficient hydrogen engines, this multi-year project has reached a major production milestone with its 50th hydrogen combustion engine coming off the group engine line in Foston, UK.

According to EKA, the decision was made due to the extended product life this will add to the vehicle making it more sustainable and valuable to operators.

The project brings together a consortium led by HVS and includes Fusion Processing and Asda.

To meet growing demand, BMZ has expanded its battery production capacity in Karlstein am Main, Germany, through a Euro 11 million deal with Amada Weld Tech for the acquisition of welding systems, a key component in the battery manufacturing process.
