December 2022 saw Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus Ltda (VWCO) of Resende, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil begin testing its largest electric truck model to date, the e-Delivery 17.

The project is employing PACCAR’s Peterbilt 579M trucks utilising Aurora’s latest version of its integrated hardware and autonomy software system, the Aurora Driver Beta 5.0, which is the cornerstone of the company’s autonomous trucking service, Aurora Horizon.

The shipments were made to the Adani-run ports of Ennore, Katupalli, Hazira and Mundra and has been widely publicised as the first sizeable batch order for heavy-duty electric trucks for port operation in India.

With 1,682 electric buses on order, SP Trans says more orders are expected as some transport operating companies have not yet submitted their new purchase requests.

The company announced the order for 500 articulated E-WAY electric city buses to Flemish government-owned public transport operator De Lijn, over the next six years, with the first 65 to be dispatched by Q1 2024.
