It is less than a year since German automotive components giant Schaeffler merged with Vitesco Technologies Group to form a single “motion technology company”. Retaining the Schaeffler name, the new company is now in the process of combining the two product lines of Schaeffler and Vitesco together under a single brand. At the company’s stand at the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo – held between 28 April and 1 May in Anaheim, California – the two companies’ portfolios were nearly indistinguishable. It marked the first time that the newly-merged company presented itself as a supplier of comprehensive system solutions to the North American commercial vehicle market.

Sales of medium and heavy rigid trucks (7.5t gvw and above) in India experienced a decline of 2.1% in Q4 (January to March) of FY 2024/25 to register 71,614 units from 70,149 units in same quarter of fiscal year 2023/24.

This accreditation means the bus can operate “on a planned route without a driver in the cab,” significantly expanding Karsan’s autonomous e-bus operations beyond existing deployments in Italy,  Switzerland and Finland.

Sales of buses (7.5t gvw and above) were up by 10.5% in Q4 of the financial year 2024/25 (January to March) to register 22,049 units, up from 19,946 units in Q4 of FY 2023/24.

Spheros, the specialist in heating, air conditioning, and thermal management systems for buses, has been independent from its former parent Valeo for nearly a year now, and company CEO Mark Sondermann wants people to know it. “We are no longer constrained by the strategic priorities of a larger group,” he told Truck & Bus Builder. “There is now only one priority, and that’s Spheros.” Following the Valeo acquisition in 2016, Spheros adopted its parent’s name; the reclamation of its own name marks a definitive break with the recent past. And the change is a timely one: “We can now be more agile. We can take faster decisions. It gives us the room to act in this very exciting and very dynamic market.”

Sales of light-duty buses and coaches (7.5t & below) rose strongly in Q4 of FY2025/24 (January to March 2025) by 19.4% to register 18,310 units compared with 15,333 units in Q4 of FY2023/24.

Mullen announced a definitive agreement to acquire an additional 21% stake in Bollinger, increasing shareholder equity by approximately USD3.5m.

While the bulk of the money will be spent on improving rail and tram links within and between urban zones, a substantial part has been earmarked for establishing new bus connections and adding more buses to existing routes.

No specifics about the partnership have been released, except that the first products are set to be unveiled in the spring of 2026.

The project - valued at approximately USD660mn (INR 5,500 crore) - includes full-scale electric and civil infrastructure development under a Gross Cost Contracting (GCC) model.
