The integrated electric drive system on a Class 7 demonstration vehicle has been tested successfully at Eaton’s proving grounds in Marshall, Michigan.

Allison launched the eGen Power 85S for the electric truck market, the latest addition to its range of fully electric CV axles. Furthermore, the company introduced its new 9-speed fully automatic transmission, designed for commercial vehicles operating in stop-and-go conditions, offering improved fuel economy, enhanced performance, and lower maintenance costs.

ZF confirmed that under the new agreement it would further develop the latest version of the hybrid automated manual transmission system, TraXon 2 Hybrid, for heavy-duty trucks in China.

Dubbed ‘PowerLion’, the new diesel driveline consists of a new ‘D3066’ (“D30” for short) engine and ‘TipMatic 14’ automated manual transmission.

Customers can now order the Paccar TX-12 and ‘TX-12 PRO’ automated transmissions with the ‘Paccar PX-9’ engine for Peterbilt Models 548, 537, and 536.

The companies have successfully completed field tests of the new Cummins X15N 15-litre natural gas engine in combination with Allison’s 4000 Series fully automatic transmission. The results showed significant improvements in fuel efficiency, engine braking, and power during shifting, making the combination ideal for heavy-duty operations.

The G38 can handle up to 3,800 Nm of torque, making it well-suited to the 16-litre V8, which can deliver a maximum torque of 3,700 Nm.

The upgraded fuel tank isolation valve (FTIV) is 27% lighter, 39% smaller and contains 24% fewer components than the previous generation. Eaton has said that it has agreements in place to supply this product to two global automotive customers.

Allison states that many Chinese-built buses are now equipped with its Torqmatic series, a range of fully automatic transmissions for engine ratings ranging from 172 kilowatts (230hp) to 283 (380hp), specifically designed for suburban buses and tour coaches.

The company has stated that the product has been designed to withstand “harsh environments”. These converters are air-cooled and able to operate in temperatures of up to 85 degrees Celsius.
