Iveco Bus officially unveiled a biomethane compatible 18m long Urbanway Hybrid compressed natural gas (CNG) bus at Autocar - with other models lengths also announced with this new drivetrain combination.

The German retrofitter has set up a U.S.-based subsidiary – to be led by Richard Haas – and it has announced an order for up to 500 fuel-cell electric trucks from TMP Logistics Group.

According to a new agreement between CaetanoBus and Industria Italiana (IIA), the companies are to work together to construct hydrogen buses in Italy. The hydrogen FC buses will be co-branded with Toyota (the fuel cell supplier) with start of production at IIA's factory in Bologna, Italy, scheduled for Q4/2024.

The VMC 1200, with a gross vehicle weight rating of 12,000 lbs (over 5 tonnes), is fitted with a 120-kW motor and lithium-ion batteries providing up to 150 kWh of energy and a range of up to 180 miles.

Logistics firm Foria will use the truck to transport fly ashes – a by-product of coal combustion – from a thermal power station in Mälardalen to a new recycling facility in Högbytorp operated by Ragn-Sells AB.

The 12-metre bus is fitted with a diesel engine which Keyou has converted to run on hydrogen and a “mild-hybrid” transmission with energy recuperation capabilities.

Space at the assembly plant has been expanded from 8,000-square-metres to 15,000-square-metres, now allowing for eight trucks to be assembled every day.

Equipmake has won a contract with First Bus to repower 12 Optare Versa electric buses with its Zero Emission Drivetrain (ZED). The cost of repowering the e-buses is less than half the cost of a new one, Equipmake claims.

Available in 2024, Anadolu Isuzu plans entry into a new market segment with the introduction of the Big·e last mile electric delivery truck. Unveiled at the IAA, the company claims it has a range of 150 km and a load capacity of 1000 kg.
