The Ministry of Transport in Japan is considering introducing dedicated lanes for self-driving trucks on highways connecting major cities to help reduce congestion and address driver shortages.

At a Venture Logistics facility in the Midwest, the project partners will test a 500-kW charging system with two Class 8 battery electric trucks to see what benefits wireless charging could bring to goods transportation.

The company announced that its Logistar 300 electric van has received approval from the California Air Resources Board (“CARB”) and a certificate from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), meaning that the van qualifies for state and federal funding.

Eight operators will benefit from the success of a bid made by charging-as-a-service firm Zenobē, including major fleets such as Stagecoach and McGill’s Buses.

The orders came from Stagecoach Group and FirstGroup which has placed the largest single order (169 units) for Yutong electric buses in the UK to date.

The VNR range and current VNL models with a power rating of 455 horsepower and 1,650-lb-ft of torque can now be ordered with an engine which complies with the latest NOx and particulate regulations set down by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

New European legislation mandating the use of tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) for all new commercial vehicles, including trailers, came into effect on July 7. Any tyre pressure change that exceeds 20% must be displayed (in real-time) on the driver's dashboard, alerting them to the issue as a safety precaution.

This will create a network of green hydrogen production facilities for various purposes (international shipping, trucking etc). This aligns with California’s plans to cut CO2 emissions by two million tonnes annually and reach carbon neutrality by 2045.

ZF says its update management service will “fix bugs, patch security vulnerabilities as well as add new features while maintaining compliance” with the UN ECE R156 regulation.

Electra Battery Materials will use the funds to demonstrate the scalability of its hydrometallurgical black mass process, which produces recycled nickel, cobalt and lithium which can then be reused in the production of new products. This will help make the Canadian EV supply chain more sustainable, relying on fewer precious metals used in EV batteries.

Approximately 360,000 square feet of the existing plant, which measures 1.42m square feet, will be given over to the ‘Accelera’ zero emission brand.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Enva will contribute its national battery collection network with Altilium’s recycling expertise, recovering precious metals and other critical materials such as lithium, which will be used in the production of new batteries.
