The MINGA project will put a battery-electric ‘Lion’s City E’ bus, installed with autonomous driving technology, on bus route 144 through the Olympic Park in Munich, with a driver onboard for supervision.

According to the Executive Chairman of MaxiTrans, Greg L’Estrange, Schmitz’s investment in the group will pave the way for shared technological development and operational support as MaxiTrans grows its business.

These buses will be delivered in September 2023 and will operate in Germany’s Middle Franconia region.

The new generation Setra MultiClass 500 LE series comes in four models, ranging in length from 10.51 to 14.52 metres on two as well as three axles. Daimler states it has been designed for a wide range of applications, from peri-urban to long-distance inter-city transport in sparsely populated regions.

The new laboratories will be jointly managed by MAN and two institutes of higher education: the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) and the Technical University of Nuremberg Georg Simon Ohm (“Ohm”).

Four prototype trucks were tested for their overall energy management, the cooling and thermal management of the batteries, and the effect of temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius on powertrain components and charging.

Schmitz Cargobull's Data Management Center will be integrated with Trimble Transportation’s own fleet management platform, meaning that operators can access all their vehicle data on one platform without needing to install additional hardware.

Trimble will take on Transporeon’s customers in Europe and will use its assets to enhance its transport management systems offered in both Europe and North America.
