Weeks after opening its new silicon wafer fabrication facility in Dresden, Robert Bosch GmbH, based in Stuttgart, has announced it is to invest EUR400 million in its silicon chip manufacturing facilities throughout 2022. The investment will expand its wafer fabrication sites in Dresden and Reutlingen, Germany, and its semiconductor operations in Penang, Malaysia.

Robert Bosch GmbH, based in Stuttgart, Germany, has announced it is to acquire Atlatec GmbH, an autonomous driving specialist based in Karlsruhe, Germany. Atlatec will become part of Bosch’s Cross-Domain Computing Solutions division as an independently operated company.

CaetanoBus S.A., headquartered in Porto, Portugal, has announced it has won two international tenders to supply ten H2.City Gold buses to Düsseldorf’s operator Rheinbahn, and eight units to SSB Stuttgart. The orders add to more than 40 H2.City Gold buses already in service in Germany.

Continental AG, based in Hannover, Germany, has added a new trailer tyre to its Hybrid line for regional transport. The tyre replaces the older HT3 model in the range, offering improved performance in all-weather conditions, making it suitable for year-round use.

Daimler Truck AG, based in Stuttgart, Germany, has announced the Mercedes-Benz eEconic has completed its final endurance tests before the start of series production. The eEconic was tested in the Arctic Circle at temperatures as low as -25°C to prepare it for its intended municipal use in Rovaniemi, Finland.

Bernard Krone GmbH & Co, based in Werlte, Germany, has entered a strategic partnership with service provider Efficient-Consumer-Response ECR-Solutions Servicegesellschaft mbH (ECR) of Dortmund. The aim of the agreement is to work together to further develop and expand Krone’s fleet management service packages for fleet operators.

Sales revenues for the group increased by 17.5% over 2020, while reported earnings were EUR1.9bn, a 9% margin.

The two companies plan to sell around 5,000 retrofitted trucks and buses in France by 2030, supported by over EUR1.5m raised earlier in the year by REV Mobilities.

Group spending in research and development into electric vehicles will increase to EUR2.6bn between now and 2026, adjusting its original budget of EUR1.6bn to 2025.

Sales revenues grew to EUR30.6bn, while the group's adjusted operating income was EUR1.6bn, a 5.2% return on sales.
