At a Venture Logistics facility in the Midwest, the project partners will test a 500-kW charging system with two Class 8 battery electric trucks to see what benefits wireless charging could bring to goods transportation.

The test took place on a North American highway in Q4 2023 over 19,312 kilometres with fully loaded comparison trucks. The test ran with and without cylinder deactivation active via a dashboard switch.

With continuous power of 351 kW and peak power of 850 kW, the GVM310 is designed for applications such as commercial on-road, construction, material handling, forestry, and mining, while weighing only 230 kilograms.

The agreement is initially for installation of charging bays for customers with cars and light vans and trucks, but also to undertake a feasibility study to add charging equipment for delivery trucks.
