The German retrofitter has set up a U.S.-based subsidiary – to be led by Richard Haas – and it has announced an order for up to 500 fuel-cell electric trucks from TMP Logistics Group.

The projected deal would see Quantron bringing ETO Motors' electric three-wheelers to the European market; in turn, Quantron will make ETO Motors the sole distributor for all its vehicles in the Indian subcontinent.

The German retrofit firm premiered the QHM FCEV range, which can cover a range of up to 1,500 kilometres before needing to refuel.

The three companies aim to develop a “Hydrogen Alliance”, providing customers with fuel cell-powered vehicles and a reliable supply of hydrogen fuel as part of a single and complete service.

The move is in line with Quantron’s strategy to become an original equipment manufacturer of commercial electric vehicles on the global market.

The return of the IAA (Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung) commercial vehicle show in 2022 is remarkable in itself, given that the last exhibition was held in 2018; the biannual event should have taken place again in 2020, but it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Quantron will work together with FRIEM's retrofit business - a subsidiary called EYES - to enlarge the market for diesel-to-electric conversions in Italy.

The Quantron Qargo 4 EV, unveiled at a press event at its headquarters, is a 4.5t truck with a 3.3m wheelbase, giving it greater manoeuvrability and a smaller turning radius for last-mile applications in inner-city areas.

Quantron's revenues increased by 500% over the year before to EUR10m.

The Cizaris 12EV low-floor city bus, with a chassis based on an EV Dynamics' product, is immediately available as a battery-electric option, with a fuel-cell electric version to follow in 2023.

Hörnke will be tasked with securing the necessary liquidity to implement Quantron's plans to become a global commercial vehicle OEM.
