The pilot vehicle is a Marcopolo-bodied bus with a Scania chassis capable of running on biodiesel from locally-sourced waste, such as animal manure and other agricultural waste.

The Euro VI engine's maximum torque has been increased by 50 (to 150 Nm) and offers lower fuel consumption and longer time between service intervals than previous generations due to high torque and low revs. The new powertrains are able to run on HVO biodiesel.

Farizon Auto, the new energy commercial vehicle brand name of Zhejiang Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group (a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group of Hangzhou), has raised USD300m in a pre-A round of fundraising, which it said will be used to strengthen its range of low- and zero-emission vehicles.

The proposed measures, applying to cars, vans, trucks and buses, are set to come into effect in 2025 and 2027, but they have been criticised by ACEA for being over-stringent, especially for heavier vehicles.
