Daimler Truck opened a new 22,000 sqm truck and bus all-purpose driveline agnostic servicing and sales centre in Stuttgart (“Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Center”) for Mercedes-Benz and Fuso trucks as well as Setra and Mercedes-Benz buses. This is its fifth such facility in the past 12 months, and it plans to add three more in Europe in 2025.

The company claims that it has delivered some 1,500 electric buses to date.

With two of an order for five Switch EiV 22 buses for Gujarat delivered, these are the first e-double deck buses to be delivered to Gujarat; others are already in service in Mumbai and Hyderabad.

The company is set to supply 140 electric charging stations to Nobina, Scandinavia’s largest public transport operator, for use at four electric bus depots across Stockholm, Sweden. The chargers are to be installed by the end of 2024 and in operation by Q1 2025. This signifies Ekoenergetyka’s continued growth in the Nordic markets.

Iveco announced a positive set of financial results for the 2023 year, including EUR 16 billion in consolidated revenues (up 13% from 2022), an adjusted EBITA of EUR 940 million (up EUR 413 million compared to 2022) and an adjusted net income of EUR 352 million (up EUR 127 million from 2022 figures).

Kempower expects to offer boosted charging performance with its next-generation DC fast charging technology. Series production is set for late Q1 2024 in the Lahti plant in Finland and Q2 2024 in the North Carolina factory in the USA.

The two engineering teams have already started working together on ChargePoint’s new generation EV chargers, building on a previous manufacturing agreement. ChargePoint wants to capitalise on AcBel’s 40 years of R&D experience, bringing more efficient EV chargers to market, faster and at a lower cost.

RTM has ordered 200 new generation 12.1 metre GX 337 ELEC single-deck buses, equipped with pantograph charging rails. The first 35 will be delivered by Q4 2024, with the order set to be completed by Q4 2027. The model will be manufactured at Heuliez’s plant in Rorthais.

The total number of city buses with alternative drivelines in European Union 27 countries plus the UK, Norway (NO), Iceland (ICE) and Switzerland (EU 27+4) totalled 13,466 units  comprising 6,354 electric buses (excludes trolley buses), 4,022 hybrid-electric buses, 2,883 CNG buses and 207, hydrogen (fuel cell) buses.

Bus and coach deliveries in Europe* reversed a three year downward trend in 2023 increasing by almost 21% (*Countries EU27+UK+ICE+NO+CH).

Under this recognition certification, Tata Motors can now claim incentives to enhance and expand production of M3 category3 electric buses.

The German Ministry of Transport confirmed to local media, that this is the last time the federal government funds or subsidises e-buses or e-trucks. Funds allocated for projects up until 2027 will remain. A combination of high inflation, energy instability (gas supply from Russia) and a downturn in productivity has resulted in the German government revising its 2024 economic forecast down from 1.3% to just 0.2%.
