The electric truck travelled a distance of over 3,000km in order to test and display its endurance under a raft of various climactic conditions to drive up interest before the vehicle goes into series production in September 2023.

DB Schenker has ordered 100 new battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros Long Haul trucks from Daimler Truck AG, which are set to be delivered by Q4 2024.  

To strengthen the Mercedes-Benz truck service and sales network in Western Germany, Daimler Truck has opened a new 6,200 square metre Commercial Vehicle (CV) centre in Haan. It includes a high-voltage work stations for BEVs and a new warehouse capable of stocking more than 10,000 spare parts.

These buses will be delivered in September 2023 and will operate in Germany’s Middle Franconia region.

The new generation Setra MultiClass 500 LE series comes in four models, ranging in length from 10.51 to 14.52 metres on two as well as three axles. Daimler states it has been designed for a wide range of applications, from peri-urban to long-distance inter-city transport in sparsely populated regions.

Daimler Truck’s aim is to replace legacy systems inherited from its former parent, Mercedes-Benz Group, with a new system which integrates workflows and product design across all of its brands.

The company has opened a dedicated 580 square metre electric bus training centre in Mannheim for its customers’ employees, offering a range of courses including, bus driver training and the vehicle maintenance of electric buses.

The new eCanter truck, which was first unveiled in 2022, replaces the first model which was launched originally in 2017 with several significant upgrades in between, including the incorporation of many advanced safety features.

Set to provide 450 jobs, the 270,000 square metre automated high-bay global parts warehouse will stock over 300,000 items from screws to finished truck cabs.

The vehicle was produced as part of the existing SuperTruck program co-funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and industry, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in road transportation.

The company has announced it has successfully delivered 864 Mercedes-Benz buses to Lisbon, one of the largest orders in the company’s history, with the first batch of 111 deliveries shipped in 2021.

Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, and Traton Group have announced that their heavy vehicle charging joint venture will operate under the name Milence BV, based in Amsterdam.
