DAF has announced expansion of its Eindhoven manufacturing plant to accommodate the assembly of its electric truck range, with series production of the XD and XF Electric range to commence in spring 2023.

The American retrofit firm raised over USD20m in the first tranche of a funding round led by Texas-based Reynolds Capital, the investment arm of dealership software firm The Reynolds and Reynolds Company.

The 844,490-square-foot facility, which will be used to scale up production of a new electric refuse truck, expands on the existing production capacity of Oshkosh and its subsidiary, McNeilus, in the state.

Under the Inflation Reduction Act, vehicles with a gross weight exceeding 14,000 pounds (6350 kg) can now qualify for commercial clean vehicle tax credits of up to USD40,000.

The facility includes a 15,000-square-foot workshop with all the necessary infrastructure to service traditional internal combustion engine-powered trucks as well as electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles.

BAE System's Power & Propulsion Solutions Division has supplied almost 16,000 electric drive systems to manufacturers in different countries, mainly in North America and Europe. In New York City's urban transport fleet alone, 1,700 buses are equipped with BAE Systems' hybrid powertrain.

GreenCell contracts the manufacture of the e-buses to PMI Electro Mobility in Haryana.

Konvekta is a pioneer in using CO2 as a refrigerant in climate control HVAC systems. More than 2,000 buses have been fitted with its CO2 heat pump HVAC system and these are now in successful operation throughout Europe.

Apollo explains that as part of the company’s digital strategy to implement Industry 4.0 technology into its systems and processes, the Digital Innovation Centre will also use the latest in new age technologies.

This comes off the back of a private funding round late last year in order to scale production of its battery cell plant in Arizona through upgraded equipment and technology.

With revenues of USD405m Librelato is investing in technology for efficiency gains and expanding its parts and service network from 21 to 30 outlets in Brazil.

The German retrofit firm reported an annual turnover of approximately EUR13m, a 25% year-on-year increase.
