Quantum Fuel Systems’ tanks are made from “Type 4” composite materials with a polymer lining, storing hydrogen at a pressure of 70 MPa, or 700 bar.

Hexagon Purus says the 60,000-square-foot facility will have an annual production capacity exceeding 1,000 battery systems and will employ up to 150 engineers and assembly technicians.

Designed for intracity and short-haul applications, the semi-tractor is powered by fully electric motors, which are in turn powered by a 218-kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery pack. This battery pack provides the truck with 155 miles (249 km) of range and is capable of DC fast-charging in just 90 minutes.
