Hexagon Purus is set to supply hydrogen storage and battery packs to Toyota Motor North America for the series production of its heavy-duty fuel cell powertrains. These HFC powertrains will be manufactured at the Toyota facility in Georgetown, Kentucky.

The Nikola ‘Tre FCEV’ trucks will serve AiLO in drayage operations in the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

The partners announced that they are already testing the truck in the U.S., being the first Level 4 self-driving test on a Class 8 fuel cell electric truck to take place in the country.

ULEMCo plans to put the money towards its existing R&D into new fuel cell electric and hydrogen combustion projects, as well as its proven dual fuel technology.

The company’s electric heavy goods division has moved into a new HQ in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, UK.

The operator will reportedly take an initial delivery of 11 vehicles at the end of this year for deployment in the city, while the remaining 35 will follow in 2025 for use in the local Spree-Neiße district.

The Northern Irish manufacturer claims to be the leader in electric buses in the UK and it is now aiming for leadership in the European market.

The buses, which are the first of a 15-strong order which will be fulfilled before the end of the year, are Mercedes-Benz ‘Intouro’ intercity buses which Safra has retrofitted with electric drivetrain components, fuel cells, and hydrogen storage tanks.
