The criteria for the award was fuel performance and engine efficiency in relation to CO2 emissions, as the magazine performed a range of tests comparing tractor units from the major global brands.

The European programme has partly been funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership (EUR 30 million for 150 hydrogen fuel cell trucks) and the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for the 8 hydrogen refuelling stations across France and the Netherlands.

DAF has delivered 7 of a total of 14 fully electric 6x2 DAF CF waste collection trucks to operate in Eindhoven. These vehicles are equipped with fully electric VDL side loaders, which allows waste containers to be emptied easily into the body of the truck.
