Einride has partnered with Dutch brewer, Heineken, to provide a fleet of digitally optimised electric heavy-duty trucks, using renewable electricity, between Heineken’s Den Bosch brewery in the Netherlands and Duisburg distribution centre in Germany.

The company reported a record production of 69,800 units (68,000 in 2022), up 1,800 from the previous year. 57,900 of these were medium and heavy-duty CF, XD, XF, XG and XG+ trucks that came off the production line (56,100 in 2022) and the other  11,900 being  LF and XB distribution trucks.

The company announced plans to electrify the HTM bus depot in the Hague, Netherlands. Construction has begun, with the depot expected to be up and running by Q3 2024. The supply agreement includes the chargers, installation, maintenance,  charging management software as well as the delivery of 95 Mercedes-Benz eCitaro city buses.

BYD Europe is set to supply 92 electric buses to the Flanders-based public transport operator, De Lijn. The EUR 42 million order consists of 92 standard 12-metre electric buses, set to be delivered next year.

The iron foundry in Heerlen, operated by subsidiary company ‘VDL Castings Heerlen’, produces cast-iron parts for multiple sectors, including the truck industry.

The IMS Group, based in Barneveld, Netherlands, has long been a distributor of truck-trailer parts, including SAF-Holland components.

The deal follows on from a framework agreement signed last year, allowing for data transfer between TrailerConnect and TIP’s fleet management platform (‘TIP Insight’).

The hub currently consists of four charging bays; early next year, Milence will double the capacity and add a roof structure to cover each bay.

Starting in Germany, Hemtron will build a hydrogen fuel network on new greenfield sites and at third-party stations, concentrating on locations near logistics centres and motorways. 

Ebusco is set to supply Italian central purchasing organisation Consip*, with 250 of its low-floor suburban Ebusco 2.2 12-metre electric buses, marking a milestone first order in the Italian market.

The prototype Megawatt Charging System (MCS) is intended to fully recharge a heavy-duty truck in 30-40 minutes, allowing a driver to charge his vehicle up and obtain up to 500 kilometres additional range during his statutory 45-minute break.

The trucks are equipped with an e-motor offering nominal power of 120kW and 190kW output and nominal torque of 950 and 1,850Nm respectively (2,600 and 3,500Nm peak performance).
