Iveco has unveiled its new HD BEV (Heavy-Duty Battery Electric Vehicle) and HD FCEV (Heavy-Duty Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles) under the Iveco brand. 

The school bus utilises 196kWh batteries which have 25 percent more capacity than previous generations and fast charging capabilities allows the bus to be fully charged in three hours. Furthermore, this generation is 450 kg (1000 pounds) lighter, making it more efficient than its predecessors.

The trucks are produced at the company’s smart assembly plant in Zibo, Shandong province, run by the Geely Holding Group E-Pickup division. The first batch of exports were shipped to markets in Central Asia.

Pepper Motion will take over 'BAX' – a cab-chassis platform powered by a BPW e-axle – shouldering the responsibility for assembly, marketing, and aftersales.

The decision symbolises a move towards electrification whilst the company will still serve the traditional ICE powertrains as the industry transitions to zero-emission transportation.

FPT has signed an agreement with Reefilla to launch a second-life battery project using Iveco’s eBS37 battery packs. Once these batteries are no longer suitable for use, they will be delivered to Reefilla’s headquarters in Turin and repurposed in stationary storage units for charging stations.

The patented software helps detect early battery defects and will aid GM in developing an early hazard detection system for batteries. The value behind this software is that it doesn’t require additional hardware or sensors to monitor minor changes that have the potential to impact battery health.
