FPT has signed an agreement with Reefilla to launch a second-life battery project using Iveco’s eBS37 battery packs. Once these batteries are no longer suitable for use, they will be delivered to Reefilla’s headquarters in Turin and repurposed in stationary storage units for charging stations.

The 64,000 square metre facility in San Luis Potosi will house a new manufacturing facility for power electronic components and electric motors with 380 new jobs to be created over the next five years. The facility is planned to come on line incrementally with phase 1 beginning in Q2 2024.

The ZEV4 truck is available in several variants (box truck, stake bed truck, dump truck, utility truck or cargo delivery vehicle) and is equipped with 120 kWh batteries located within the frame rails, delivering 241 horsepower, and offers up to 210 km (130 miles) of range on a single charge.

By the end of 2023, the factory will be producing up to 2,500 electric school buses a year whilst employing 1,400 new staff members.
