The British firm unveiled a variant of the 7.5t battery-electric model - a dual-powered vehicle with an electric motor driven primarily by batteries but supported by fuel cells which extend the range to 500 km.

The Swedish manufacturer will begin mass production and sales of heavy-duty fuel-cell electric trucks in the second half of this decade, following the recent start of prototype trials on the company’s test track. 

The Canadian company will work together with Aluminium Revolutionary Chassis Company to develop and manufacture Australia’s first zero-emissions bus with a full-length aluminium chassis.

The project, named ‘Symbio H2 Central Valley Express’, involves the development of a prototype hydrogen truck - intended to match the performance of a 15-litre diesel truck - which will be tested on a 400-mile route from the second half of 2023.

Rochester, New York-based Hyzon Motors Inc has announced its new ‘Repower’ program to convert used diesel trucks into hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. The company states that it is responding to demand from customers affected by global supply chain issues. The launch of the program is expected in North America late in 2022.

Turin, Italy-based Iveco Group NV has announced it intends to resume bus production in Italy. The firm intends to assemble hydrogen fuel cell and battery-electric buses at the Iveco plant in Foggia, southern Italy, with alternative propulsion systems produced in Turin.

Symbio has announced the establishment of 'Innoplate' with the German rolling element bearings manufacturer - a joint venture for the production of metallic bipolar plates, a key component in hydrogen fuel cell stacks for electric vehicles. 

Air Liquide SAS, based in Paris, CaetanoBus S.A., located in Porto, and Toyota Motor Corp, headquartered in Toyota, have signed a memorandum of understanding with the intention of developing integrated hydrogen solutions, including infrastructure and heavy-duty vehicles.
