Toyota plans to establish a new joint venture in China with Beijing SinoHytec Company, called Toyota Sinohytec Fuel Cell Company, to manufacture hydrogen fuel cell systems to power electric vehicles.

BAE Systems Power & Propulsion Solutions, a division of BAE Systems Inc, which is based in Endicott, New York, USA and Plug Power of Latham, New York have announced a collaboration to provide hydrogen-based electric propulsion systems and fuelling solutions for city bus fleets.

Rigorous test track and test rig trials of Daimler Trucks’ first new enhanced hydrogen fuel cell-powered tractor unit prototype, the Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck began in late April, the Stuttgart-based company has announced.

Bosch Hydrogen Powertrain Systems (Chongqing) Co Ltd is the name of a new joint venture company, between Robert Bosch AG of Munich, and Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer, Qingling Motors Co Ltd of Chongqing, Chongqing Province. The new JV has been established to develop, assemble and market fuel cell power modules for the Chinese market.

Ballard Power Systems of Vancouver has received follow-on purchase orders from Ballymena-based Wrightbus for 50 fuel cell modules to power fuel cell electric buses, for deployment in UK cities.

Toyota Motor Corporation of Toyota, Japan has developed packaging to house fuel cell systems into compact modules, which, it says, it plans to begin selling it in the spring of 2021 or later. The new module is designed to be utilised easily by companies developing and manufacturing fuel cell systems for a wide variety of applications, including transport such as trucks, buses, trains and ships.
