11,531 HGVs were registered between July and September, representing a 14.9% improvement compared to the same period of the year prior, according to statistics published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Domestic sales of medium and large buses and coaches (7.5t gvw and above) increased by 43.8% in first half (April to September, 1H) of the financial year 2023-24 to register 22,250 units.

Sales of light duty buses (7.5t & below) increased by 24.3% to register 27,580 units in first half of FY 2023-24 from 22,185 units in the first half of FY 2022-23.

Sales of LCV goods carrier vehicles (trucks) gvw ≤ 7.5t slid by 4.6% to 265,825 units in first half of FY 2023-24 from 278,679 units in same period of FY 2022-23.

High demand for tractor units boosted sales by 47.2% during the first half of FY 2023-24 to register 32,018 units compared with 21,756 units in the same period of the previous year (FY 2022-23).

Sales of medium and heavy-duty rigid trucks (7.5t gvw and above) in India decreased by just 0.7% in the first half of FY2023-24 (April to September, 1H) to register 117,351 units.

Domestic sales of buses and coaches (7.5t gvw and above) increased by 47.7% in the second quarter (July to September, Q2) of the financial year 2023-24 to register 11,321 units, up from 7,665 units in the same period of FY 2022-23.

Sales of LCV goods carrier vehicles (trucks) of gvw ≤ 7.5t remained steady in Q2 of FY 2023-24, rising just 0.5% to 140,991 units compared with 141,635 units in same period of FY 2022-23.

Tractor sales grew by 43.5% during the second quarter (Q2) of FY 2023-24 to register 17,539 units compared with 12,221 units in the same quarter of the previous year (FY 2022-23).

Sales of medium- and heavy-duty rigid trucks (7.5t gvw and above) in India grew by 8.7% in the second fiscal quarter (July-September, Q2) of FY 2023-24 to register 64,995 units from 59,778 units in the same quarter of fiscal year 2022-23.

According to data from Bogotá-based Andemos (National Association for Sustainable Mobility) sales in year to September 30, 2023, fell by 35.3% to 19,444 heavy commercial vehicles compared with 30,060 units sold in the same period of 2022.

Iveco maintained its sales leadership with 4,199 units sold in the period from January to September this year, resulting in growth of 16.0% compared with 3,620 vehicles in the same period of the previous year.
