The components division of DAF Trucks N.V. is set to supply 100 PACCAR MX-11 engines to Turkish bus manufacturer Otokar. The Euro VI engines will be fitted to 100 Otokar Metrobuses for operation in Istanbul.

Truck builder Acela Inc, based in Bozeman, Montana, has released a new 4x4 fire truck chassis, named the Straya. The company claims it is the first ever purpose-built wildland/urban fire truck chassis.

Daimler Truck AG has upgraded its Mercedes-Benz OC 500 bus chassis for Euro VI engines with new models for both the RF (raised floor) and LE (low entry) models. The new variant features ADAS systems such as sideguard and brake assist to improve safety.

Allison Transmission Inc and Hyzon Motors Inc have been selected to provide the propulsion system for the UK’s first hydrogen fuel cell-powered refuse truck. Aberdeen City council has chosen to pair a 250kW Hyzon electric motor with Allison’s 3000 Series transmission in conjunction with a 45kW hydrogen fuel cell.

According to the terms of the four-year contracts, TTC has placed firm orders for 202 Xcelsior hybrid-electric buses, and it may order up to an additional 263 forty-foot hybrid-electric buses as well as 100 sixty-foot buses.

Kenworth Truck Co has broken ground on a USD45 million, 105,000 sq ft expansion to its Chillicothe manufacturing site in Ohio. The expansion represents around a 17% increase to the 622,000 sq ft Class 8 truck manufacturing plant, with the new building housing a new test building on the north side of the plant.

The North American Council for Freight Efficiency concludes from the reports that significant portions of these segments are currently electrifiable, largely due to their use in repeatable routes that support overnight depot charging, reducing their dependence on sparce public charging infrastructure.
