July sees ZF do Brasil Ltda start production of the TraXon transmission at its plant in Sorocaba, state of São Paulo.

Eindhoven-based DAF Trucks N.V. has produced its 10,000th new generation truck. Starting in winter 2021, DAF’s new generation comprises the XF, XG, and XG+ models.

CATL, based in Ningde, China, has opened its new battery manufacturing plant in the city of Zhaoqing, Guangdong. With a substantial total investment of 12 billion yuan (USD1.8 billion), the first phase of CATL’s Zhaoqing production base is set for the production of both EV batteries and energy storage batteries.

Stellantis will produce the new range of LCVs, including diesel and battery-electric drivelin options, at its Polish and Italian plants, and then supply them to TME.

Turin, Italy-based Iveco Group NV has announced it intends to resume bus production in Italy. The firm intends to assemble hydrogen fuel cell and battery-electric buses at the Iveco plant in Foggia, southern Italy, with alternative propulsion systems produced in Turin.

The Swedish manufacturer has opened its first battery assembly plant in Ghent, East Flanders, where series production of batteries for its heavy-duty electric trucks will begin in the third quarter of this year.

Symbio has announced the establishment of 'Innoplate' with the German rolling element bearings manufacturer - a joint venture for the production of metallic bipolar plates, a key component in hydrogen fuel cell stacks for electric vehicles. 

Iochpe-Maxion S.A., based in São Paulo, has announced it is to invest BRA100 million (USD20 million) in its Cruzeiro manufacturing facility in Brazil. As a result of the investment, the company will increase its annual production capacity by 400,000 truck wheels and 110,000 agricultural wheels.

The Israeli firm is currently preparing a 130,000-sq-ft facility for the production of 'P7' Class 3-5 commercial electric vehicle platforms in Coventry, UK, which will be followed by another site in Texas, USA.

Kyocera Corp, based in Kyoto, has announced a plan to build the largest manufacturing facility it has ever operated in Japan, expanding production capacity for semiconductors. The company stated that a primary motivator in the expansion is the growing demand for components for ADAS systems and sensors used in new vehicles.

Companies such as Stellantis, SKF and Mercedes-Benz took the decision to suspend their business operations in Russia, in the continuing aftermath of the Russian-led invasion of Ukraine.
