This new division is the working combination of two formerly independent companies, V.S.E. Vehicle Systems Engineering B.V. (VSE) of Veenendaal, near Utrecht, Netherlands and Hemscheidt Fahrwerktechnik GmbH & Co. KG of Haan, Germany.

Under the Inflation Reduction Act, vehicles with a gross weight exceeding 14,000 pounds (6350 kg) can now qualify for commercial clean vehicle tax credits of up to USD40,000.

BAE System's Power & Propulsion Solutions Division has supplied almost 16,000 electric drive systems to manufacturers in different countries, mainly in North America and Europe. In New York City's urban transport fleet alone, 1,700 buses are equipped with BAE Systems' hybrid powertrain.

GM said the majority of the funding (USD 854 million) will go into their Michigan, New York and Ohio plants in order to boost the production of their sixth-generation small-block V-8 engines along with the related block, crank and head machining.  

The money will be used to bolster its range of vehicles as it expands into new markets across Europe and North America.

The Higer Azure A12BR is already fully approved by SPTRANS, the transport authority in the city of São Paulo. Local production planned with start of production scheduled for 2023.
