The demonstration vehicle achieved 16 miles per gallon fuel efficiency and a 170% improvement in freight efficiency over the 2009 ‘SuperTruck I’ vehicle.

Mobileye will supply its autonomous driving hardware along with its ‘Road Experience Management’ real-time mapping software which uses dynamic roadmaps to inform the autonomous vehicle’s decision making.

The Joint Electric Truck Scaling Initiative (JETSI), first launched in 2021, plans to put over a hundred electric trucks on the road and 35 chargers at two sites in order to trial them in real operations at scale. 

The MINGA project will put a battery-electric ‘Lion’s City E’ bus, installed with autonomous driving technology, on bus route 144 through the Olympic Park in Munich, with a driver onboard for supervision.

Over the next three and a half years, the project’s research partners will deliver nine different vehicles for testing on the road, carrying over 40 tonnes across distances of up to 750 kilometres.

According to Ricardo, it has produced a prototype internal combustion engine and sent it off to Cummins and BorgWarner, who are partners in the Avanced Propulsion Centre project.

The intention is to define a single European-wide approach to assessing the environmental impacts of zero-emission vehicles and batteries - making it possible to directly compare different products and determine which are more environmentally friendly.

‘ROADVIEW’, which stands for ‘Robust Automated Driving in Extreme Weather’ brings together 16 partners from 7 countries to come up with solutions to the challenges posed by harsh weather and poor visibility to autonomous vehicles.

The project, called NEFTON, is assessing whether fast megawatt charging can help battery-electric trucks to match the typical profile of a conventional truck used for long haul transportation, and measuring the impact that megawatt chargers would have on the national grid.

Logistics firm Foria will use the truck to transport fly ashes – a by-product of coal combustion – from a thermal power station in Mälardalen to a new recycling facility in Högbytorp operated by Ragn-Sells AB.

The Dutch start-up showcased the ‘X150’ fuel cell system, a 150-kW power module which integrates the fuel cell stack, power electronics, air and cooling subsystems and safety systems in one box.

Fusion Processing’s CAVstar control and sensing system will be used to make Bradshaw’s third generation electric T700 and T800 Tow Tractors, fully autonomous.
