The South Korean market for commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw declined by 13% to 41,648 units in the first quarter of 2025 from 47,744 units in the same period last year.

The Philippine market for commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw expanded by over 16% to 32,558 units in the first quarter of 2025.

The Malaysian market for commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw plunged by almost 31% to 11,981 units in the first quarter of 2025 from an already weak 17,189 units a year earlier.

The Indonesian market for commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw increased by over 15% to 31,295 units in the first quarter of 2025 from very weak year-earlier levels.

The Japanese market for commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw rebounded by 12% to 92,278 units in the first quarter of 2025.

Sales of commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw in East Asia’s seven main markets, excluding China, grew by just under 2% to 273,126 units in the first quarter of 2025 after plunging by 28% to 268,016 units in the same period last year;

Sales of light-duty passenger vehicles (7.5 tons and below) were up in the FY 2024/25 with rate of 5.9% to register 54,807 units (51,750).

Sales of buses and coaches (>7.5t gvw) in the FY 2024/25 increased by 23.4% to 65,580 units from 53,137 units in the previous fiscal year.

Sales of LCV goods carrier (truck) vehicles (gvw ≤ 7.5t) fell by 2.8% to 528,045 units in FY 2024/25 from 543,008 units in FY 2023/24.

Total tractor sales slipped 2.2% during FY 2024/25 to register 67,574 units compared with 69,115 units in the previous year (FY2023/24).

Sales of medium and heavy rigid trucks (7.5t gvw and above) experienced a decrease of 4.4% to 239,847 units in FY 2024/25 from 250,969 units in the financial year 2023/24.

Tractor sales grew by 4.8% during the fourth quarter of FY 2024/25 (January to March) to register 21,021 units compared with 20,061 units in the same quarter of the previous year (FY 2023/24).
