The market for commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw in the Philippines rebounded by over 130% to an estimated 21,692 units in the second quarter of 2021 after plunging by 83% to 9,426 units in the same period of last year.

South Korea’s commercial vehicle market over 2 tons gvw continued to grow in the second quarter of 2021, with sales rising by 5.2% to 64,525 units from 61,344 in the same period of last year, based on data released individually by vehicle manufacturers and trade associations.

Vietnam’s market for commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw bounced back by almost 41% year-on-year to 20,026 units in the second quarter of 2021 after declining by 23% to 14,211 units in the same period of last year.

The Thai market for commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw plunged by over 34% to an estimated 94,255 units in the second quarter of 2021 from 70,151 units in the same period of last year.

Domestic sales of light duty buses and coaches(GVW 7.5t or less) surged by 399.7%, increasing to 4,297 units in Q1 2021-22 from 860 units in the first quarter of the previous financial year.

Sales of medium and heavy rigid trucks (7.5t GVW and above) in India saw growth of 536.3% in the first quarter of the financial year 2021-22, increasing to 24,898 units from 3,913 units in same quarter of the year 2020-21.

Domestic sales of light-duty goods carrier vehicles (GVW ≤ 7.5t) grew by 174.3% to 72,345 units in the first quarter of the financial year 2021-22, compared with 26,373 units sold in same period of the previous year.

Domestic sales of tractor units experienced huge growth of 1079.9% during the first quarter of the India financial year 2021-22, increasing to 3,174 units from 269 units in the same quarter of the previous year.

Domestic sales of buses (7.5t GVW and above) increased by 391% in the first quarter of the financial year 2021-22, with sales of 1,086 units compared to 221 units in Q1 of 2020-21.

According to statistics collated by the National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea) based in Sao Paulo, production of bus and coach chassis in the first half of 2021, increased by 15% to 10,324 units compared with 8,974 units in the same period last year.

According to data from Anfavea, sales of both truck and bus+coach chassis in the Brazilian market grew in the first half of this year. The truck segment increased by 54.4% to 55,865 units, against 36,153 units in the same period last year. The bus+coach chassis segment registered an increase of 31.9%, with 7,538 units, against 5,716 units in 2020.

According to the Automotive Association of Peru (AAP), based in Lima, during the first six months of 2021, a total of 8,426 commercial vehicles were sold in Peru, some 138.6% higher than the same period in 2020 (3,532 units).
