Hexagon will supply batteries, battery systems and the integration into DTNA’s battery electric Freightliner eM2 vocational trucks. Furthermore, the agreement encompasses power modules and power-take-off (PTO) technology.

Designed for delivery applications, the truck is built on the Freightliner M2 106 Plus medium-duty truck platform and comes with two battery and driveline options.

The Joint Electric Truck Scaling Initiative (JETSI), first launched in 2021, plans to put over a hundred electric trucks on the road and 35 chargers at two sites in order to trial them in real operations at scale. 

The vehicle was produced as part of the existing SuperTruck program co-funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and industry, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in road transportation.
