The Iveco SpA / Plus Inc heavy-duty truck (Iveco S-Way) installed with Plus’s level 4 autonomous driving technology (‘PlusDrive’), has hit public roads in Germany.

PlusDrive-equipped trucks will employ mid- to long-range lidar from Luminar on an exclusive supplier basis, while Plus will act as exclusive third-party supplier of AI-powered driver assistance software to Luminar’s OEM customers.

Plus’s technology is intended to enhance Bosch’s existing portfolio of steering systems which incorporate advanced driver assistance features to make handling easier and safer for the driver.

Future ‘Tre’ vehicles will be outfitted with a version of ‘PlusDrive’ which incorporates a set of advanced driver assistance systems, including lane centring, lane changes, merges, stop-and-go traffic, nudging, and braking.

Testing of the Iveco Bus / Plus Inc heavy-duty truck (Iveco S-Way) installed with Plus’s level 4 autonomous driving technology (‘PlusDrive’), is set to expand from Germany into Austria, Italy and Switzerland in March 2023 in order to collect more complex road data and ultimately go into series production.

September 2022 saw the successful completion of an initial pilot phase of the Iveco-Plus semi-autonomous tractor trailer rig, with the next phase being trials on European public roads.

The ‘Plus Build’ programme will install Class 8 trucks with ‘PlusDrive’, a product package comprising LiDAR, radar, and camera sensors together with the company’s proprietary autonomous driving software, within a single day.

Iveco will trial an S-WAY truck installed with 'PlusDrive' autonomous driving technology to assess its performance in different environments and driving conditions.

'PlusDrive' will soon incorporate Aeva's 4D LiDAR technology, which can perceive objects and assess their velocity at distances of over 500 metres.

Sun-Mi Choi will work to forge partnerships with European truck firms in order to establish Plus's business profile in the region.

FAW will handle the installation of PlusDrive technology in its customers' vehicles, which will become the very first driver-in autonomous trucks to operate in China.

PlusDrive will now incorporate thermal imaging capabilities, allowing it to detect objects and pedestrians more easily when normal visibility is obscured.
