The Scottish Government has launched the second phase of the Scottish Zero Emission Bus Challenge Fund (ScotZEB) to incentivise bus operators to purchase zero-emission coaches. The second phase of funding includes the eligibility of coaches to community transport providers.

The bucket truck was fitted with a ‘Hi-Ranger LT40’ aerial work platform from Terex which is powered independently of the vehicle battery, while the box truck was built by Marion Body Works.

Motiv Power Systems’ latest vehicles will be capable of achieving ranges up to 200 miles, even when fully laden with cargo or passengers, thanks to alterations made to powertrain components which the company developed together with its partners.

Based on the company’s ‘Pro Spotter’ line of tractor units, the ‘Pro-Spotter Electric’ is powered by an electric drive system which TICO developed in collaboration with Volvo Penta starting in 2021.

The logistics firm’s new leasing service is called ‘RyderElectric+’: through it, customers will have access to consultation, vehicles, chargers, telematics, and maintenance for a single subscription fee.

The battery packs contain safety features including current overcharge protection, cell-level passive propagation resistance, and electrical disconnection at the individual cell wire bonds that satisfy international safety standards.

The vehicle shown was a Ram 2500 pickup truck with four-wheel drive and peak power and torque ratings of 750 kW and 15,200 Nm respectively.

The company successfully completed a week-long demo tour of both its battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 Tractor and its HFC Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck at Tyrol, in the Alps in Austria, at an altitude of 1,560 metres.

The intercity e-bus launch is in line with its roadmap of offering a fully electric bus range in 2023. 

Phoenix Motor says it changed the layout of the new e-chassis (based on the Ford E-450) to make more space for its newly designed battery packs towards the front and rear of the frame rails.
