Under the agreement, charging stations for Commercial Vehicles (CVs) will be placed every 120km along the EU’s main highways by 2028, whilst hydrogen refuelling stations will be installed at least every 200km by 2031.

Rocsys will use the money to scale up and bring its product - an autonomous charger for electric vehicles - to market in the United States and Europe.

The charging park, spread over 3.5 acres, is fitted with 20 dual-cable charging stations, providing a total power output of 1.4 megawatts to 40 coaches.

Having access to megawatt chargers would mean that drivers would be able to recharge their trucks to near-full energy capacity during their statutory 45-minute breaks, Scania stated.

Using the application, customers should be able to locate charging points which are suitable for commercial vehicles and then, once they have finished charging, pay for it through a RFID (radio-frequency identification) card.
