Customers of International who drive ‘LT’, ‘RH’, ‘HX’, and/or ‘HV’ trucks powered by the S13 powertrain may now choose to switch from diesel to R100/R99 or hydrotreated vegetable oil, significantly reducing their tailpipe emissions.

Cummins announced the continuation of a thirty-five-year long partnership with Ram Trucks with the supply of a new diesel engine for the Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 models.

In July, American powertrain manufacturer, Cummins Inc, opened a new test facility at its engine plant in Darlington in the northeast of England, with the attendance of T&BB and other members of the trade press. The company has carried out engine testing at Darlington for many years, but the new facility represents a definitive change in approach to product development and evaluation. While the older test cells are solely designed to assess engines, the new facility can accommodate an entire truck or bus for whole vehicle testing. Moreover, the building which houses the new facility is specifically made to safely test gas and hydrogen combustion vehicles.

The company showcased a variety of powertrain systems, including natural gas-powered engines, and electric propulsion (e-propulsion) systems.

Dubbed ‘PowerLion’, the new diesel driveline consists of a new ‘D3066’ (“D30” for short) engine and ‘TipMatic 14’ automated manual transmission.

Parker says that the T7G series incorporates its latest pump variable speed drive technology, resulting in enhanced pressure capability, improved cold start capability, and operating speeds of up to 3,600 rpm.
