The vehicle achieved a 5 star Direct Vision Standard* (DVS) rating for driver visibility, making it safe to operate in one of Europe’s busiest cities.

The European Parliament in Brussels has agreed improved Weights and Dimensions Directive rules, moving from an initial 40-tonne heavy-goods gross vehicle weight limit to 44-tonnes. The caveat, however, is that after 2034, these weight exemptions will only apply to zero-emission vehicles.

DAF Trucks Vlaanderen (a subsidiary of Dutch truck manufacturer, DAF Trucks NV) has been named “Factory of the Future” by the Belgian technology federation Agoria. The criteria are based on sustainability and the use of pioneering technology and manufacturing practices.

The company announced increased sales in 2023, with 526,053 trucks and buses sold compared with 520,291 in 2022. Despite supply chain issues, it tripled its BEV sales in 2023 to 3,443, or 277% more than in 2022 (914 units).

The 149 e-buses, which had been removed pending investigation of a fire, are being after a detailed report was sent to RATP in Paris explaining the main cause of the fire and the actions being taken to rectify the problem. The Bollore Group attributed the fire to “the assembly of an electronic component which caused a short-circuit between the cells making up the battery packs.“
