The milestone (an Iveco eDaily) vehicle is headed to British retailer Tesco, which ordered 571 of these e-Daily vans as the company aims to transition its home delivery operations to using fully electric vehicles in the UK by 2030.

The site houses the battery R&D centre (InnoLab Battery) and the manufacturing component, which is currently producing battery cells and packs on a prototype line in order to acquire the necessary knowledge before series production in the second half of the decade can commence.

Having travelled 15,000 kilometres through 22 European countries over 45 days, the two prototype Mercedes Benz eActros 600 long-haul battery-electric trucks have returned to Wörth am Rhein after a successful tour. The 40-tone-gross combination weight trucks exclusively used public charging points during the trip.

Seeing Machines’ technology, which tracks the driver’s face and behaviour to identify and react to distraction or drowsiness, was tested and certified successfully for use in buses produced by Wrightbus.

This deal will create significant revenues for Ceres through licensing fees, royalty payments, engineering services and hardware over multiple years. The majority of the revenue generated will come through royalty payments on any hydrogen delivered to the end customers.

Air Products will produce and supply the hydrogen to the various stations which will be aided by the new hydrogen liquefaction plant currently being built in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Once operational, this will double Europe’s total liquid hydrogen supply.

The vehicle was first debuted on the Irizar stand at Solutrans 2023, hosted in Lyon. These trucks were produced at the new truck production plant in Lazkao, Spain. 

Since 2022, EVM UK Ltd has sold 80 units of the Grand Toro midi buses. The distributor also sells the Visigo coach, Kendo CNG coach and the all-electric Novo Citi Volt midibus.

The company claims that by using the GRP panel technology (UV resistant), European operators can save Euro 9,300 in five years in fuel costs by reducing the run time of the refrigeration unit.

The first batch of 20 trucks has already been delivered, and they are now operating across Maritime’s 41 sites in Britain.

The agreement is initially for installation of charging bays for customers with cars and light vans and trucks, but also to undertake a feasibility study to add charging equipment for delivery trucks.

This order will replace end-of-life diesel ICE buses with new battery-electric GX 337 ELEC (12 metres) and the GX 437 ELEC (18 metres) Heuliez buses. These buses are scheduled for delivery between Q4 2025 and Q1 2026.
