The coaches will serve on Houston’s park-and-ride service routes, connecting the suburbs with the downtown area.

According to the terms of the contract, MAN will supply New Flyer with “several thousand” ‘V0K-08’ front axles and ‘HY-1350’ rear axles which, together with accompanying spare parts, are worth more than USD200m.

The vehicle in question is an articulated ‘Urbino 18’ battery electric bus, one of fifty ordered in 2023 by Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe, the state-owned company which manages public transportation in the German capital.

The order includes 150 high-end electric luxury intercity coaches and 50 e-buses.

Ashok Leyland is an agreement to supply chassis to Flixbus, which are then bodied with Prakesh bodies.

For 2024, the company’s order book stands at 130 units – that is, compared to the 30 units per year which Temsa used to sell in the British market around ten years ago.

This order follows a competitive e-bidding process conducted through the Government tendering system.

Vehicle production also saw a rise of 13.8% in the first half of FY 2024-25.

The ‘StreetDeck Ultroliner’, which was originally launched in 2014, will now be offered with a Cummins ‘B6.7’ engine, replacing the six-cylinder Daimler ‘OM936’ which was used before.

The German manufacturer says the order for 27 battery electric buses from Ledermair is the largest order for electric buses the company has received thus far from a private operator in Austria.

Parent company NFI has made “significant” investments in infrastructure and workforce at the site, including the installation of chargers, expansion of storage and commissioning areas, and retraining of staff, in order to prepare the facility for electric coach production.
