REE claims the P7-C is the very first vehicle to be certified to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and Environmental Protection Agency standards to feature steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, and drive-by-wire technology.

The truck, branded as ‘Paul Hydrogen Power’ (PH2P), is built on a 16-tonne Mercedes-Benz ‘Atego’ glider chassis and is powered by the ‘Voith Electrical Drive System’ (VEDS), which provides 310 kW of continuous power and 410 kW of peak power.

The Class 5 vehicle will launch with two-wheel drive, a new cab, and a new 800V electrical architecture.

The work was carried out on a used 12-tonne 'Renault Trucks D' in partnership with a firm enrolled in Volvo’s ‘CampX’ startup incubator in Lyon, called ‘Novumtech’.
